GOVERNOR VICENTE P. MAGASAYSAY was born in Castillejos, Zambales on January 20, 1940. His father is Jesus del Fierro Magsaysay of Castillejos Zambales, the brother of President Ramon Magsaysay. His mother is Miguela Jamias Pulido of Sarrat, Ilocos Norte and Sanchez Mira, Cagayan.
He grew up in Sta. Maria, Castillejos and after the Japanese Occupation of the Philippines, he took up his elementary education at Sta. Maria Elementary School in Castillejos. Afterwhich he pursued his secondary education at Colegio De San Juan De Letran. Right after his graduation, he proceeded to Agusan del Sur – Cotabato – Davao in Mindanao to help his parents in managing their business.
In Agusan, he started as a Shop Supervisor, Road Construction Team Leader, then rose to Operation Manager of their family business in logging at Agusan and Cotabato. He is responsible for the expansion of their logging business into plywood processing and manufacturing thru his initiative and expanded it up to Indonesia. While in Agusan, he met and courted Rosellyn Dagani Enciso that culminated in marriage. They have four children, namely: Jesus Vicente, Angelica, Lourdes and Victor Francis Ross. (Read more)
In the Local election of 1967, he entered politics and run as Governor in the Province of Zambales on November 4, 1967. He was the youngest elected Governor in the Philippine at the age of 27. He defeated three (3) termer incumbent Governor Manuel D. Barretto by a substantial margin. On November 8, 1971, he was re-elected again as Governor with a very wide margin over his rival.
As a KBL candidate he was elected as assemblyman in Region III in April 7, 1978. He was re-appointed Governor of Zambales on December 1978 and was re-elected again in January 20, 1980 as KBL Candidate.
After the death of his father in 1988, he became the President of their family business, the JESSMAG, INC. Last May 11 1998, he defeated his rivals for the Governorship of Zambales.
